Great Blog. I agree that one of our main objective is to provide opportunities for all students to achieve the desired education objectives using a variety of methods. In order for us to achieve this we must evolve distance education for the next generation. There has to be a system for course development that will ensure equivalency for all learners and quality of learning.
I think you provided some excellent points. Everyone must take part in the planning process for it to run smoothly. The authors pointed out that it takes a lot of time and effort to create quality courses for distance education. This planning requires us to look at all involved when planning and the main focus should be what the learners are gaining from the course. I also liked how you brought out the point that we must take into consideration what technology is available outside of the classroom. Many students do not have access to technology especially in inner cities. In my district we are faced with these challenges, even trying to get papers typed. So when evolving distance education I think some how we should be able to incorporate learners from all economic situations
This is a very thorough analysis of all the points that were derived from our articles. I totally agree with the point that training is going to have to play an important part in instructional design for Distance Education to take and hold a place of accountable contributions to education. Training for all participants to EFFECTIVELY design and implement distance education based on the sound educational principles that already exist is what we need at this point. Distance education and technology, in general, is only as good as the operators and educators that guide the implementation.~C. Penny Penagraph
